Whether full or joint concentrators, all students receive individual attention and advising from a core group of dedicated and highly-engaged faculty.

The Director of Undergraduate Studies is the primary academic adviser for sophomores and juniors, and the Associate Director of Undergraduate Studies is the primary academic adviser for pre-concentrators and seniors.

In consultation with faculty advisers, students develop individual plans of study tailored to their intellectual interests. Faculty members are closely involved with students’ academic development at every stage of the concentration, from our small-group [Sophomore Tutorial](https://locator.tlt.harvard.edu/course/colgsas-120677/) all the way through our advanced courses and the [Junior](/junior-tutorial) and [Senior Tutorials](/senior-tutorial) where thesis-track students work in a small group seminar to complete the junior essay and senior thesis, respectively. Many of the [courses](/wgs-courses) offered by WGS are seminars, allowing for an exciting and productive exchange of ideas between students and faculty.

If you would like to talk with a current WGS student about the concentration, you can also reach out to one of our [undergraduate peer advisers](/people-terms/peer-advisers) for their insight and advice.
