#  Deidre Lynch's Essay Appears in LA Review of Books

 WGS Standing Committee Member [Deidre Lynch's](/people/deidre-shauna-lynch) article, ["Teaching *Frankenstein* at the Flying University for Ukrainian Students"](https://lareviewofbooks.org/article/teaching-frankenstein-at-the-flying-university-for-ukrainian-students/), has been featured in the *LA Review of Books*. The essay discusses her experience volunteering as a teacher for the Flying University for Ukranian Students, an organization established in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, in which Ukranian students are able to enroll in online undergraduate courses.

 Lynch is the Ernest Bernbaum Professor of Literature and the author of *[Janeites: Austen’s Disciples and Devotees](https://press.princeton.edu/books/paperback/9780691050065/janeites)* and *[The Economy of Character: Novels, Market Culture, and the Business of Inner Meaning](https://press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/E/bo3626227.html)* and has taught the popular course Jane Austen's Fiction and Fans.
