 

#  Jack Parlett Publishes Essay in Boston Review

 UK scholar and author [Jack Parlett](https://www.english.ox.ac.uk/people/dr-jack-parlett?filter_types-1229251%5B%5D=&filter_series-1229251%5B%5D=), who joined WGS for a [guest lecture series and queer writing workshop](/news/new-lecture-series-jack-parlett) earlier this term, has published an essay in *Boston Review.* The essay, ["The Critic of Gay Desire,"](https://bostonreview.net/articles/the-critic-of-gay-desire/) discusses the work of the late [Leo Bersani](https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/27/books/leo-bersani-dead.html), a groundbreaking literary critic and queer studies scholar.

 Jack Parlett is author of [*The Poetics of Cruising: Queer Visual Culture from Whitman to Grindr*](https://www.upress.umn.edu/book-division/books/the-poetics-of-cruising) and [*Fire Island: A Century in the Life of an American Paradise*](https://www.harpercollins.com/products/fire-island-jack-parlett?variant=39699529302050), as well as the poetry chapbook [*Same Blue, Different You*](https://www.brokensleepbooks.com/product-page/jack-parlett-same-blue-different-you). He is a Junior Research Fellowship at University College, Oxford, where he teaches modern U.S. literature and literary theory. His essays have appeared in *Poetry London*, *Lit Hub*, and elsewhere.
