#  Jane Kamensky Appointed President of Monticello

 On **Tuesday, October 17, 2023**, the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, the private nonprofit that owns and operates Monticello, announced that **WGS Standing Committee member [Professor Jane Kamensky](/people/jane-kamensky)** accepted the appointment of the new President at Monticello beginning January 15, 2024.

 Professor Kamensky said, “It’s a tremendous honor to have been chosen to lead one of the nation’s most important historical institutions.
