 

#  Michael Bronski's Article Appears in Time

 WGS [Professor Michael Bronski](/people/michael-bronski) penned [an article](https://time.com/5612564/free-love-victoria-woodhull/) that appeared in *Time* magazine's "The Long View," a series of pieces by historians on "how the past informs the present."

 The *Time* piece traces the hidden links 19-century feminist Victoria Woodhull's views on sexual liberation and the modern LGBTQ movement. Woodhull, perhaps best know as the first woman to run for the U.S. presidency, was part of the Free Love movement that fought for the rights of both men and women "to be free to make any decisions about love and sex they chose without intrusion from the state."

 Bronski, Professor of the Practice in Media and Activism in WGS is the Lambda Literary award-winning author of *[A Queer History of the United States](http://www.beacon.org/A-Queer-History-of-the-United-States-P738.aspx)* and of *[A Queer History of the United States for Young People](https:/www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/243198/a-queer-history-of-the-united-states-for-young-people-by-michael-bronski-adapted-by-richie-chevat/9780807056127/)*.
