#  New Essay from Caroline Light’s Blog

 Professor [Caroline Light](/people/caroline-light) has published a new essay on her HPHR blog, [In The Crosshairs](https://hphr.org/columnist-dr-caroline-light/). The essay, [Maddesyn George, Intimate Violence, and the Limits of Armed Self-Defense](https://hphr.org/blog-light-7-self-defense/), was co-authored by Light and Harvard sophomore [Amy Ojeaburu](https://socialscience.fas.harvard.edu/people/amy-ojeaburu).” The essay is part of a series discussing "legal cases in which women or transgender people used guns to defend themselves against their abusers and \[deciphering\] the different ways in which states adjudicate self-defense cases involving domestic or intimate partner violence."

 Caroline Light is the author of *Stand Your Ground: A History of America’s Love Affair with Lethal Self-Defense* (Beacon Press, 2017). Her blog, [In the Crosshairs](https://hphr.org/columnist-dr-caroline-light/), appears on the website of the School of Public Health's *HPHR Journal.*
