 

#   Radcliffe Magazine Features Robert Reid-Pharr's Forthcoming Book

 The Spring 2021 issue of *[Radcliffe Magazine](https://www.radcliffe.harvard.edu/news-and-ideas/who-why-reid-pharr)* includes a piece about WGS Professor [Robert Reid-Pharr ](/people/robert-reid-pharr)and his forthcoming book, "James Baldwin: The Making of an American Icon." The autobiographical account of Baldwin's life "investigates how such a radical individual was able to become one of the most popularly influential intellectuals of the 20th century."

 Reid-Pharr has published four books: *Archives of Flesh: African America, Spain, and Post-Humanist Critique* (NYU Press, 2016); *Once You Go Black: Choice, Desire, and the Black American Intellectua*l (NYU Press, 2007); *Black, Gay, Man: Essays* (NYU Press, 2001); *Conjugal Union: The Body, the House, and the Black American* (Oxford University Press, 1999). While he was on leave for the academic year Robert was the 2020–2021 Carl and Lily Pforzheimer Foundation Fellow at the Harvard Radcliffe Institute.
