#  WGS Professor Pens Op-Ed on CDC’s Pregnancy Guidelines

Professor [Sarah Richardson](/people/sarah-richardson) (WGS/History of Science) has co-authored a [*Boston Globe* op-ed](https://www.bostonglobe.com/opinion/2016/02/08/the-cdc-risks-its-credibility-with-new-pregnancy-guidelines/2SCHzNCqcWNDRguol7kzwK/story.html) criticizing the CDC’s new bulletin advising women of reproductive age to abstain from alcohol.

In the piece Professor Richardson and her co-author, [Rene Almeling](http://sociology.yale.edu/people/rene-almeling) (Yale, Sociology), argue that “the CDC’s overly broad advisory damages its credibility as a source of clear, balanced advice about health risks.”
