The memoir was a <em>New York Times Book Review</em> Editors' Choice, an American Library Association Stonewall Award winner, and a finalist for the Lambda Literary Awards. <em>The New York Times</em> says "<em>Fairyland</em> is a daughter's compassionate, clear eyed reckoning with the truths that defined her singular girlhood at the dawn of the gay liberation movement." Alison Bechdel writes, "<em>Fairyland</em> is a love story that not only brings a new generational perspective to a history we're in danger of forgetting, but irrevocably shifts the way we think about family itself."<!--break--></p><p>	Named one of the best books of 2013 by the<em> San Francisco Chronicle</em>, <em>Goodreads</em>, and others, <em>Fairyland</em> is being made into a movie by <a href="http://www.ew.com/article/2013/12/16/sofia-coppola-to-adapt-fairyland" target="_blank">Sofia Coppola</a>.</p><p>	Alysia is also co-founder of <a href="http://therecollectors.com/" target="_blank">The Recollectors Project</a>, dedicated to remembering parents lost to AIDS and supporting the children they left behind.
