SUMMARY:BBQ+: Studying Black, Brown, and Queer -- Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:
This Mahindra Humanities Center seminar series discusses key debates and new approaches at the intersection of critical race theory, postcolonial/decolonial and indigenous theory, and queer theory. BBQ+ interests are rooted in the mixed and hybrid identities of those living in late capitalism and in this age of post/colonialism. The seminar is focused on decentering the monolithic US-European experience, as well as in understanding how this experience influences dynamics around the world. Premised on the interconnectedness of minoritarian identities and experiences of subversion and resistance, the seminar will investigate how an integrated critical approach will allow for a deeper and more concrete investigation of contemporary and historical social and political realities.

The seminar will begin with an opening reception on September 4th, 2019.

This seminar series is organized in collaboration with the Center for Black, Brown, and Queer Studies and the Committee on Degrees in Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality.
