Her writings have appeared widely since the 1980s, when she was a core member of the now-famed Midnight Rose Collective. A regular writer for the <em>Guardian</em> and the <em>Times Literary Supplement</em> (among others) she is probably best known as editor of <em>Reading The Vampire Slayer: The Complete, Unofficial Guide to Buffy and Angel</em> (2001, 2004) and for her Lambda Award-winning novel of trans street life in 1970s Chicago, <em>Tiny Pieces of Skull</em> (2015).</p><p><strong><em>Co-sponsored by the Department of English and the Standing Committee on Degrees in Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality</em></strong></p>
