**Dissertation:**

“The Soviet New Age: Alternative spirituality and the collapse of communism, 1975-2000”. This dissertation is a social-cultural history of extended Soviet collapse through the lens of the massive popular culture of alternative spirituality and the paranormal. It emphasizes women, gender, and class.

**Research methods:**

Archival research, interviews, textual analysis, film analysis, media and popular culture sources

**Areas of interest:**

Eastern Europe; the Soviet Union; Russia; Ukraine; Latvia; Lithuania; Estonia; Moldova; second world feminisms; women, gender, and sexuality studies within Soviet and Eastern European studies; late twentieth century; post-Soviet studies; religion, spirituality, and secularism; social and cultural history
