Dissertation topic:
My dissertation focuses on early modern exploration narratives and ideological constructs of nation and empire, examining the way readers used these texts to articulate their relationships to the imperial project (inflected by race, gender, and class).
Research methods:
Book history, textual analysis, digital humanities, archival work
Areas of interest:
Early modern and eighteenth century anglophone print culture and literature, voyage and travel narrative, poetry, theory of the lyric, postcolonial theory, and queer theory. Also: pirates!

I also do comparative work with Spanish and Portuguese texts.
