Location:

Boylston 335
The Gender & Sexuality Workshop will kick off the semester with the first meeting of the spring semester next Wednesday, February 15th, at 6 pm in Boylston 335. We will be discussing the following papers.
  • Emily Buff - "Gravestones of Community: Neighborhood Markers as Elements of Social Forgetting and Nostalgia"
  • Catey Boyle  - "Power and Pestilence: Health, Illness, and Inequality in Ottoman Tunis, Early-mid 19th century"

Please RSVP here if you will attend so we can get a headcount for food and any dietary restrictions. To receive the pre-circulated papers, you can email gswharvard@gmail.com. Please read the papers prior to our meeting to be ready to give feedback. (And a reminder to not circulate them outside the workshop!)

The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Gender and Sexuality Workshop is open to graduate students in any discipline working on questions related to gender and sexuality. The workshop is an opportunity for students to receive detailed feedback from an interdisciplinary group of scholars on work in progress.

We strongly encourage graduate students, particularly those who have completed coursework in WGS, to submit work that they are looking to develop further, and welcome both written work—such as drafts of journal articles, or prospectuses—and practice conference presentations or job talks.

If you would like to participate in or receive further information about the workshop, please email gswharvard@gmail.com. Newcomers are invited to submit work, but are also encouraged to attend at least one additional session after presenting.
