Sex, Religion, Immorality: A Deliberately Frustrating Introduction -- lunch discussion with Professor Mark Jordan

Date and Time

October 2, 2015
12:00PM - 01:00PM EDT

Location

WGS Lounge, Boylston Hall, Ground Floor

A hundred years ago in America, sexual acts or feelings stood at the center of moral codes.  "Immorality" typically meant the breaking of religiously-backed rules for sex, especially by women.  Now we seem much more confused about rules for sex.  Do we really need an ethics specifically for sex?  If so, how do we begin to make one?  And why is there still this thing about religion and sex?

Please join WGS Professor Mark Jordan for lunch and discussion. You can also find out more about Professor Jordan's spring course, Ethical Reasoning 42, Sexual Ethics as Ethical Reasoning. After the event WGS advisors will be on hand to answer your questions about the WGS concentration.
