2016 Matthiessen Professor Named Guggenheim Fellow
The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation announced this week that Professor Robert Reid-Pharr, who will visit WGS as the Matthiessen Professor of Gender and Sexuality in fall 2016, has received a Guggenheim Fellowship in literary criticism.
The foundation's announcement recognized Professor Reid-Pharr as "'one of the country’s leading scholars of African American literature and culture, [who] works to disrupt narrow conceptual and disciplinary boundaries as he examines the interconnections between discourses of race, gender, class, and sexuality."
WGS congratulates Professor Reid-Pharr on this extraordinary honor.
