Deidre Lynch Named Harvard College Professor

Harvard has announced that WGS Standing Committee member Deidre Lynch has been named a Harvard College Professor. Harvard College Professors are recognized for their contributions to undergraduate teaching and a positive influence on the culture of teaching at the University. The professorships are five-year appointments that include support for research and a semester of paid leave or summer salary.

Lynch is the Ernest Bernbaum Professor of Literature and the author of Janeites: Austen’s Disciples and Devotees and The Economy of Character: Novels, Market Culture, and the Business of Inner Meaning and has taught the popular course Jane Austens Fiction and Fans.

Lynch joins Robin Bernstein as one of two members of the WGS Standing Committee currently appointed as Harvard College Professors.
