Najmabadi Wins LGBT History Prize
The Committee on LGBT History has named WGS Professor Afsaneh Najmabadi a co-winner of its 2015 John Boswell Prize. The Boswell Prize is awarded every other year to the best book in LGBT history published in the prior two years.
Professor Najmabadi was honored for her 2014 book, Professing Selves: Transsexuality and Same-Sex Desire in Contemporary Iran. Her co-winner, Phil Tiemeyer of Philadelphia University, received the prize for Plane Queer: Labor, Sexuality, and AIDS in the History of Male Flight Attendants.
