DEADLINE EXTENDED: GSAS Workshop Student Coordinators

WGS is looking for 2 graduate coordinators to help organize the 21-22 GSAS Gender & Sexuality Workshop.The workshop is open to grad students in any discipline working on questions of gender and sexuality. Participants meet to workshop papers and dissertation chapters, and to present job talks and dissertation prospectuses. This year the faculty conveners are Sarah Richardson (History of Science) and another faculty member to be determined.

Key info:

  • Pay is $20/hr
  • Workshops can be in-person, or on zoom, or a combo (the graduate coordinators and faculty conveners will be deciding on the format)
  • There is a small budget for food (though Harvard guidelines must be followed regarding masking/eating, etc.)
  • Ideally there are 4 workshops a term (the day/time and frequency is also a decision the graduate coordinators and faculty convenors make together)

GSAS Workshop Student Coordinators job description

  • Determine schedule for events with faculty convener
  • Maintain mailing list of interested students
  • Gather RSVPs and pre-circulate papers to be discussed
  • Send WGS admin staff information about events at least two weeks before for publicity
  • Communicate with faculty guests about logistics (location, date, time, etc.)
  • Attend monthly workshop meetings
  • Track attendance at each event – this info is needed for next year’s application
  • For online meetings:
    • Set up Zoom rooms for scheduled online meetings
  • For in person meetings:
    • Order food for delivery to event
    • Book space for event
  • Complete application for next year’s workshop with help of WGS and faculty convener as needed
  • Help recruit student coordinators for next year’s workshop
  • Other workshop-related duties as necessary
