WGS graduating seniors Ciara Hervás and Larisa Owusu have won 2021 Thomas Temple Hoopes Prizes, for their theses, respectively “Seeing Beyond the Binary: The Photographic Construction of Queer Identity in Interwar Paris and Berlin" and Iconic Market Women: The Unsung Heroines of Post-Colonial Ghana (1960s–1990s).

In addition to recognizing students' "excellence in undergraduate work," the Hoopes Prize also recognizes supervising faculty for their "excellence in the art of teaching." Thus we congratulate Professors Briana Smith and Beatrice Wayne, Ciara and Larisa's respective advisers in their joint concentration, History & Literature.

Please join us in lauding our 2021 WGS Hoopes Prize recipients for their outstanding scholarship. Congratulations, Ciara and Larisa!
